
ENVIRONMENTAL MANAGEMENT
AND ADVOCACY
2012-2016 – In 2012, the CALL Foundation for Environmental & Sustainable Development was appointed NGO Representative on the National Solid Waste Management Authority (NSWMA) Board and its four subsidiaries. Its annual budget was J$4.4 billion dollars.
The NGO Representative chaired the Planning sub-Committee of the Board which reviewed plans and policies of the company; and reviewed and led the discussions on proposals from inves- tors for a US1.2 billion dollar investment in Waste to Energy Plants Served on the Corporate Governance and Finance Sub-Committee of the NSWMA and subsidiary Boards
During the Board’s tenure, the NGO Represen-
tative from the CALL Foundation also chaired the HR Sub-Committee and the Operations Sub-Committee of the NSWMA Board and its four subsidiaries.
2017 – Member of the Jamaican Delegation to UN Conference on Oceans at UN Headquar- ters, New York where issues related to sewage disposal and treatment, water supply and sanitation, solid waste disposal on land and its impact on oceans and the development of partnerships to solve these problems were discussed.
The CALL Foundation also participated in the Preparatory Meeting for the Conference on Oceans.

SPORTING EVENTS
Sporting Events as a Tool In Community Engagement And Entrepreneurship
2017
Rafi and Friends (a youth group in Brinkley, St. Elizabeth) in association with the CALL Founda- tion for Environment & Sustainable Development organized a major sporting event – Bevon Morrison World Cup Sundays in Brinkley, St. Elizabeth for twelve weeks, which commenced on September 3, 2017.
This project involved 16 teams from Manchester and St. Elizabeth in a six-a-side night football league. The league had four zones consisting of four teams. One team from each zone advanced to the semi-finals. Two teams played off at the finals, and the winner of the Football League was decided. The winning team was awarded a first prize Trophy and a cash prize of $100,000. Second place winner was be awarded a second prize of $50,000 and a trophy.
The Bevon Morrison World Cup Sundays Six-a-Side league provided an outstanding opportunity for community engagement, entrepreneurship and ensured that the youths were engaged in an activity that fosters discipline, teamwork and togetherness – key ingredients of strong communities; whilst building their entrepreneurial skills (since food and drink were sold every week by them).

Economic Empowerment of Women and Youth
The CALL Foundation conducted Seminars and training on Poverty Eradication and Economic Empowerment (for women and youth) in communities (particularly in Rwanda, Uganda and Tanzania) and met with representatives of the Government and the Private Sector in these countries.
Meetings with the United Nations were held in Nigeria to further discuss relevant development programmes for West Africa (including Liberia, Ghana and Nigeria).

Rural Water Supply
The CALL Foundation for Environment & Sustainable Development has worked with a faith based organization in Nigeria to develop appropriate water supply and sanitation solutions in a village in Nassarawa State. It has conducted poverty eradication and economic empowerment programmes in Nigeria, Kenya, Uganda, Zambia, and Ghana.

The CALL Foundation has worked with US Based NGOs to coordinate medical missions and poverty reduction programmes in Jamaica. These NGOs include Word Alive (headed by the world renowned Right Reverend Dr Jaqueline E. McCullough) which conducted a four day medical missions in the inner city involving two hundred Doctors, Nurses, Dentists, Ophthalmolo- gists and a Pharmacy and the provision of wheelchairs and other equipment for the local hospital; and Jamaica Jamaica Program organized by the Right Reverend Roderick Caesar and Pastor Beverly Caesar of Bethel Tabernacle in New York (Medical Mission and built social housing).
The Word Alive Program had a budget of US$450,000 including local inputs. CALL Foundation coordinated the local registration of the 200 medical personnel with the Ministry of Health, Phar- macy Council of Jamaica, Nurses Association of Jamaica and with some of the local sponsors over a three month period.
